Our Story

Chris and Katie met, as many modern love stories do, not quite expecting anything life-changing — and somehow ended up with exactly that. What started as easy conversation and shared laughs quickly turned into something deeper - late nights, big plans, and a growing certainty that life was better together than apart.

Our story began behind the scenes (literally) in 2014, during Sleeping Beauty the Pantomime. Katie was on stage playing the Princess, while Chris was backstage as the stage manager, making sure everything ran smoothly, whilst doing a good job of catching Katie's attention. Somewhere between after-show drinks at our local pub, late night conversations over Snapchat, journeys to and from Leeds driving to college/uni, and countless Starbucks coffees, something quietly special began to grow. Just two weeks later, on 10th February 2014, we made it official — without realising what life had in store for us.

Our first date was simple and perfect: Pizza Express followed by the cinema. Katie was 17, Chris was 21, and neither of us could have imagined where this would eventually lead. Years passed, filled with growing up together, building careers, travelling the world, buying a home, becoming an auntie & uncle, and learning what it truly means to be a team. Through it all, our relationship has always been rooted in friendship, humour, and feeling completely at home with one another.

Then, in August 2024 — almost eleven years later, and after much joking from family about how long it was taking — Chris proposed in Bali. A moment years in the making, set against the backdrop of one of our favourite things: travelling together. Today, Chris works as a software engineer for Shell in London, while Katie is a midwife in Barnsley, providing continuity of care to women with additional needs. Our days may look very different, but our shared love of travel, luxury escapes, great food, good coffee, and cosy nights in keeps us perfectly in sync — and now we're so excited to begin the next chapter together.
